Recently I’ve been engrossed in fashion magazines. Anything from hairstyles to nail polish has been on the forefront of my mind. I want to try everything.
The list is endless… my money isn’t. Try some of my drug store favorites, but indulge in the luxury of Splendor’s top picks.
Let us start with hair products. I am not an expert. I don’t have ANY experience with hair, I can barely do my own. But one thing I am good at is reading reviews. I scoured the internet and tore pages out of magazines to find the best deal and splurge products for awesome hair care products.
Deal- Not Your Mothers Way To Grow Shampoo & Conditioner $5.99 -First off, it’s cheap! I tried this because Walgreens actually sells travel sized, it smells awesome and I swear I saw a difference in length. I decided to branch out with this line and tried the dry shampoo- I’ll tell you, my hair had so much volume I felt like I was in a hair commercial.
Splurge- Mermaid Shampoo & Conditioner $36.00 -So, I am a sucker for beach hair. I love the way it just has the perfect wave, this shampoo and conditioner gave me beach hair in a bottle. It was magic. But the most important part was the scent. Imagine drinking a pina colada on the beach, that’s how my hair smelled, and I adored it.
Painting my fingers and toes is the one super girlie thing I consistently do. I can’t look at my feet if my toes are unpainted. It’s weird, I know. It’s also expensive to keep up with that habit. I also get very agitated if I buy cheap nail polish and it’s horrible. (Just thinking about it bugs me.)
Deal- Kiss Nail Dress, Gel Nail Solution $6.99 -I bought these because I loved the pattern, but wow, they have lasted almost a week in rough conditions. I have moved boxes, washed dishes, picked at my cuticles, the list goes on. They are super easy to apply (imagine hanging wallpaper) and you just seal with some top coat. Easy peezy.
Splurge- Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish ($17.00) & Addicted to Speed top coat ($21.00) -I have been a fan of Deborah Lippmann for a few years now. Her polishes go on so smooth and don’t leave lines after one coat. That’s amazing. They also wear great and have the perfect brush for my nail bed. I can’t think of anything I don’t like! The top coat is like a gel lacquer, it gives a nice thick seal to your nails!
There is a bunch of junk in shower gels and soap that will leave you feeling itchy and like a dried up prune. I have found that spending a little more makes for sublime skin.
Deal- Aveeno Positively Nourishing Calming Body Wash (Lavender & Chamomile) $6.99- This is made for sensitive skin and leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. The smell is clean and not overpowering.
Splurge- Laura Mercier Shower Gel (Fig) $36.00 -This is a creamy, luxurious body wash that has a light scent but foams so well that just a drop will do. This is my favorite shower gel ever, so much so that I only use it on special occasions.
There are people that are obsessed with lip balms. I will not admit that I have a problem, but I do have quite the collection.
Deal- EOS Sweet Mint $3.29 -That silly little egg has become a favorite in my house, it’s not super gunky so men like it, I love the tingle from the menthol, and the lid never comes off!
Splurge- Fresh Lip Treatment $23.00 -This is so smooth and silky that it glides on like butter and has an SPF too! This is a chapped lips nightmare. Has a light lemon scent but isn’t overpowering. Perfect for everyone in your family, but watch your kids (they might eat it.)
